Corporate history

December 1973 Work begins at Eiko Service Co., Ltd. in the management and disinfection of animal testing facilities at pharmaceutical company research institutes, and the management and husbandry of experimental animals for research.
November 1978 Experimental animal management is split off from Eiko Service Co., Ltd., and with a capital investment of 3 million yen and business alliance from CLEA Japan, Inc., Kansai Animal Care Co., Ltd. is established (at Sagisu 5-chome, Fukushima-ku, Osaka).
October 1980 The headquarters was moved to Sagisu 3-chome, Fukushima-ku, Osaka.
October 1981 Capital was increased to 6 million yen.
November 1982 The Torikai Center was newly established in Torikai, Settsu-shi, Osaka. A research facility and sales office were opened.
November 1983 The headquarters was moved to Settsu-shi.
August 1984 An experimental facility and an animal breeding section were added to the head office.
May 1985 JAC (joint corporation with CLEA Japan, Inc.) was established with the objective of entering the Tokyo area market.
November 1985 Capital was increased to 9 million yen.
April 1988 Company name changed to KAC Co., Ltd.
November 1989 The head office was relocated to Ibaraki-shi in Osaka, and the former head office was converted into a technical center.
December 1989 Capital was increased to 30 million yen.
March 1991 Start of contract services for cell culture.
November 1992 The head office was moved to Nishigekkocho 40-banchi, Nishinokyo, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto.
July 1994 The Kyoto technical center is established at the Kyoto Research Park at Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto.
May 1995 The Tokyo office was established in Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
June 1995 Start of supply of labolatory reagents.
September 1995 The technical center was moved to Ritto-shi in Shiga-ken and was renamed the Biological Science Center.
April 1997 The Kyoto technical center was closed down and merged with the Biological Science Center.
October 1997 The Osaka sales office was moved to Sagisu, Fukushima-ku, Osaka.
December 2000 The Reagent Division was established.
April 2001 A technical training center opened in the Biological Science Center.
May 2001 The Tokyo office was moved to Yanaka, Taito-ku, Tokyo.
The Tokyo office was renamed the Tokyo branch.
November 2002 A barrier system was created by completely renovating the second wing of the Biological Science Center.
March 2003 The corporate philosophy, management guidelines, and guidelines for action were formulated.
July 2003 The Osaka sales office was closed and its functions merged with the head office.
October 2005 Management wing of the Biological Science Center newly established.
November 2005 The Tokyo office was renamed the Tokyo branch office.
February 2006 Capitalization was increased to 35,625,000 yen.
October 2006 KAC Techno was established as a subsidiary.
January 2008 Osaka office was opened in Ibaraki-shi, Osaka
January 2009 Complete renovation of the 1st Animal Wing of the Biological Science Center.
April 2010 The Osaka office was merged with the head office.
February 2011 The Tokyo branch office was relocated to Ueno, Taito-ku, Tokyo.
April 2015 Tottori Cell Laboratory was opened at the Tottori Bio Frontier at Yonago-shi, Tottori.
June 2018 Hanshin delivery center was opened in Amagasaki-shi, Hyogo. Reagent Division moved there from the Biological Science Center.
Tottori-Cell Laboratory closed and its operations transferred to the Hanshin distribution center.
July 2018 Sales began for reagent products for research, consisting mainly of cells that were transferred from DS Pharma Biomedical Co., Ltd.
February 2019 New animal experiment facility (Building A) at bioscience center starts to operate.
September 2019 Acquired A-TEC as a subsidiary.
June 2023 An import and sales joint venture between Eve Bioscience Co., Ltd., HAMAMATSU PHARMA RESEARCH, Inc. and KAC Co., Ltd., with the aim of stably supplying research monkeys domestically and improving animal welfare, was established and started.
